It sure has. And life has changed in many ways. Summer camp has one week left and wow it has been a trip. Good and bad. It's been a real challenging summer. A lot of staff just not prepared for how much camp will stretch them. And it does, really and truly does. I've grown a lot this summer. Been stressed out beyond the point where I thought that much stress would kill me.
It's been incredible though. So many kids have given me hope this summer. Sometimes watching these kids throw away their lives breaks me down so much that it's hard to carry on, but then you get that one kid, that one teen that wants more than the junk circumstances they've called their life. I've been so blessed to watch kids open their eyes and come into contact with a God that died and rose again for THEM. It's been good. I've done the most ridiculous and embarrassing things just to get these kids to smile, and it's all been more than worth it.
I have stretched myself this summer and worked on teaching/preaching/whatever you wanna call it. I've always felt that calling on my life and this summer Hero emphatically pushed me toward speaking. I like it. I like writing messages and sharing my heart with a room full of kids and teens and staff.
What else... My heart has been convicted and changed, I've made my life a life of forgiveness. I've dealt with issues and came out stronger. I've seen the hope and expectations people like Bossman and Hero have on me and I'm rising to them instead of dubbing myself incapable.
I could probably go on for a long time. But I won't, summer is almost over and then I have another year of interning to blog about.
Peace.
