witty and writing

i've always liked writing. i guess i've always thought i'd end up writing something of some sort someday. yes, even as a child i had narrowed it down that much. be an author? hmm. i think being an author is so so much work. you have to be a genius in my opinion. you have to make someone imagine an entire story in their head. they have to imagine a life being lived, one that they get to pick the faces for, and the scenery. you have to be witty. i guess i can be witty. i think i'm far too goofy to be an author though.

what about writing a movie? when i was a kid i used to imagine a movie in my head. i could see it all. every once in a while i still do that. i write the ideas down. obviously they are not all complete original thought, and some are quite obviously the idea of a 7 year old.

so many movies nowadays originate from a book or a novel. which is wonderful in some ways. but kid of pitiful in other ways.

sometimes i wonder if i could be as cleaver as andrew niccol who wrote the truman show. but after seeing the movie head over heels, i'm convinced any movie i could have written when i was 7 would have been more witty than that.
